How Was   Founded?

Starting from humble beginnings, the idea for what is today Printed Works begin inside the library of Diamond Bar High School.  A few students' curiosity was piqued when they discovered 3D printers idly sitting in the corner of the room.  They wanted this newly discovered technology to be used more, thus they took their concerns to the school administration.  The technology was later placed into a classroom focusing on architecture manufacture and the students later formed a 3D printing club.

Concurrently, a local 3D printer manufacturer met one of Diamond Bar High School's Instructional deans. This 3D printer manufacturer by the name of Spyder 3D helped provide the new club with a nest full of printers.

But it didn't stop there, the club had other goals as well in mind and Spyder 3D soon realized the potential of these students. A CO2 laser engraver was soon purchased by the school, then a large format printer, and finally a whole garment production section.

In less than a few years the former 3D printing club became a business club called Printed Works.

Fast forward a few years later and Spyder 3D has evolved into something more than just its 3D origins; the SpyderLab.  This program has now been adopted by over 20 schools in Orange County and its growth is just beginning.  Partnering with the Orange County Department of Education, OCDE seeks to add one of these labs to every one of their schools.
